A white moose walks up and down a path, only to find that it leads to nothing,
to the north a determined future,
to the south a past long remembered,
to the east a shallow grave,
to the west a frightful day.

So instead of a move foreward or backward, instead of moving east or west, the decision was to sit still and live his life on a pill.

In the opening line - you should take out "up and down" and just leave it as "up"
because if it leads to nothing... he's moved in one direction...
at least, it seems that way.. *shrugs*

I know i just wrote it in a few seconds i just imagined someone looking for something so they went as far up as they could and found nothing and they did the same in the opposite direction leading them pack to the point of origin.
